Located on the north and northeast border of Lake Whatcom is Silver Beach neighborhood of Bellingham. Homes in the Silver Beach neighborhood are relatively diverse, with everything from turn of the century character homes to modern homes. What is a common thread throughout the neighborhood is short access to Lake Whatcom and pride of ownership. Bloedel Donovan is a very popular 20 acre park that features volleyball, a multi-purpose building, basketball, a playground as well as a popular boat launch. The neighborhood also provides access to several trail systems, including trails that run up Barkley and the back of Alabama Hill. On the west edge of Silver Beach part of this trail system reaches Big Rock Garden, which is another popular attraction in Silver Beach.

You will find more home sales over $1 million in this neighborhood then anywhere else in Bellingham. This is in large part due to this neighborhood having the most expensive waterfront of any of the lakefront homes in the county. You can equate the values to the fact that these homes are generally in the sunniest locations on the lake, and very close in to town and amenities. Many of the homes in the neighborhood also offer lake and territorial views. So lake views and lake access, along with great sun exposure, and close proximity to trails and town.
