Welcome to the Roosevelt neighborhood! Roosevelt is in an ideal location between downtown Bellingham and Barkley Village, with easy access to the freeway. The 3.5-mile-long Railroad Trail winds through the neighborhood, providing a tree-lined gravel path for walking, running or biking. Be on the lookout for a larger-than-life sasquatch just off the trail near the Alabama Bridge! The Alabama Bridge pedestrian overpass is an ideal rest stop on my morning run.

The Roosevelt neighborhood offers a multitude of housing types to suit any budget. It is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in Bellingham where one can still buy a single-family bungalow for under $400,000 or a condo for under $200,000. The City of Bellingham has targeted the Roosevelt neighborhood for creative infill projects that allow for greater density and land use. Much of the neighborhood zoning allows for Duplexes and Multi-Family residences, which blend in with the single-family homes. This is an ideal neighborhood for first-time homebuyers to get a foot on the property ladder or for investors who are looking to build their rental portfolios: 64% of Roosevelt is tenant-occupied (compared with 54% city-wide average).

At the heart of the neighborhood is Roosevelt Park, a 9-acre public park with basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, BBQ/picnic areas, and a playground. The Park is conveniently located next to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County Clubhouse, offering afterschool activities and mentorship programs.

The South end of Roosevelt is primarily light-industrial with warehouses and car dealerships. South Roosevelt is also home to Kulshan Brewing “K2” Taproom with a recently-expanded beer garden and the new Stemma Brewing Taphouse.
